ISSUE 31
12 FEBRUARY 2025 | READ ONLINE
Hi Reader,
Ever watched a kid learn to ride a bike? The wobbling, the hesitation, the moment of panic before they find their balance. And then suddenly, they’re flying.
That’s confidence in action. Not something you magically have, but something you build. One shaky start, one small win, one bold push at a time.
Confidence isn’t about never feeling doubt. It’s about moving forward even when you do. And the secret? Your environment matters. A lot.
Want to build unstoppable confidence? Stop looking inward and start shaping what’s around you.
Confidence Loves Company
Do you ever notice how a great coach, mentor, or boss can make you feel like you can take on the world? That’s because confidence is contagious. Being around people who believe in you: who push you, challenge you, and celebrate your wins. fuels your own belief in yourself.
Try this: Surround yourself with people who see your potential. And be that person for someone else.
Clarity = Confidence
Nothing crushes confidence faster than uncertainty. If you don’t know the rules of the game, how can you play full out? Gallup’s research backs this up: Only 46% of employees say they clearly know what’s expected of them at work. And when expectations aren’t clear, confidence takes a nosedive.
Try this: Next time you feel stuck, don’t assume it’s you. It might be a lack of clarity. Ask for more direction. Get specific. When you know where you’re going, it’s easier to step up.
Fear is a Liar
Most of us were trained to think confidence comes after competence. You work hard, you get better, and then you feel confident. But science says otherwise. Confidence often comes first.
Taking action, even when you don’t feel ready, is what builds confidence, not the other way around. Think about it: The first time you led a meeting, had a tough conversation or pitched a new idea, it felt awkward. But once you did it? Your confidence shot up.
Try this: Do one thing this week that feels slightly out of your depth. Send the email. Speak up in the meeting. Raise your hand for the opportunity. Action beats hesitation every time.
Why This Matters for Purpose-Driven Leaders
Look, confidence isn’t a personality trait. It’s a skill. And the best part? It’s one you can build.
So, let’s rewrite your story. Instead of waiting to feel ready, start before you are. Instead of hoping for confidence, create it. Surround yourself with people who push you, get clear on what’s holding you back, and take action.
Because once you find your balance? You won’t just be riding. You’ll be flying.
