Issue 46: High Performer. Low Alignment. Now What?

ISSUE 46

18 JUNE 2025 | READ ONLINE

Hey Reader,

If we were sitting across from each other right now - maybe in a quiet café, notebooks open, talking about your next chapter - I’d probably say this:

“You don’t need a new plan. You need a new relationship with your power.”

I know. That sounds vague. Maybe even a little woo.

But hear me out.

So many of us were taught that success comes from doing more. More precision. More prep. More pushing.

Especially if you're the kind of person who's known for holding it all together.

(You and I both know that badge.)

But lately, I’ve been wondering:

What if all that doing is keeping you from becoming?

The Beautiful Mess of the In-Between

You know that weird space between “this no longer fits” and “I have no idea what’s next”?

Yeah. That one.

That space is wildly uncomfortable.
It’s also where every powerful transformation begins.

I’ve been in it.
Clients I work with - Directors, VPs, Founders - they’ve all been in it.

They’re not lost. They’re evolving.

If that’s you right now, I want you to know:

You’re not behind.

You’re just not supposed to know everything (yet).

There’s Research for This, Too

📌 A Harvard Business Review article reveals that women spend about 200 extra hours per year on non‑promotable work (tasks that don’t lead to promotions) because they volunteer much more often and are asked more frequently.

📌 MIT Sloan Management Review shows that leaders who deliberately shape and share their personal leadership narrative gain significantly more clarity and confidence in decision-making.

Translation?
You don’t need more productivity hacks.
You need a better story to live into.

Try This

Here’s a journaling prompt I give coaching clients (and use myself):

“If the next chapter of my life had a title, what would it be?”

It doesn’t have to be clever. It just has to feel true.

Mine this month?
The Season of Sovereignty.
Letting go of people-pleasing. Honoring my pace. Following the pull.

What’s yours?

Reply and tell me. I read every message.

ISSUE 48 9 JULY 2025 | READ ONLINE Hey Reader, There was a time when my LinkedIn profile read like a trophy case. You'll know what I mean. The titles, the awards, the milestones. Each one was carefully earned, neatly stacked, and gleaming with pride. It looked like the dream. It was the dream. But recently, something has shifted with me. Quietly. Subtly. Like a favorite pair of jeans that don't quite fit like they used to (hmm. I don't think that shift is as subtle as I'd like it to be). The...

ISSUE 47 26 JUNE 2025 | READ ONLINE Hey Reader, Let’s be honest. There’s nothing wrong with a good checklist.(You know I love a tidy box-tick.) But this week I found myself wondering: When did we start confusing good leadership with good admin? It’s easy to run a tight ship. It’s harder (but way more powerful) to build something people believe in. And that’s not just a vibe. It’s backed by research. The difference between getting things done … and getting people engaged I came across this new...

ISSUE 45 11 JUNE 2025 | READ ONLINE Hey Reader, Lately, I’ve been noticing something quietly unsettling in conversations with purpose-driven leaders. They’re still performing at a high level. Still showing up with excellence. Still hitting milestones and moving projects forward. But under the surface, a different story is unfolding. It’s not crisis. It’s not collapse. It’s something a bit harder to name: Burnout that hides behind performance. Not All Burnout Looks Like Collapse If you’re...
