Issue 52: The Step Most People Skip When They Want Bigger Results

ISSUE 52

13 AUGUST 2025 | READ ONLINE

Hello Reader,

A shorter newsletter from me this week - it’s been a big one.

I’ve been:

  • Editing a new YouTube video for you (here's a link to my channel).
  • Formally announcing the launch of my book (Clarity in Chaos).
  • Talking with people about launch events and parties (contact me if you’d be willing to host one!).
  • And I just started my ICF-accredited coach training program, which means I’m back in class two evenings a week.

Not bad, right? So here’s something quick, but powerful, that’s been on my mind ...

Most people think big change starts with new goals, new strategies, or new tools.

But the real shift starts with who you decide to be.

And here’s the part no one tells you. That decision often requires letting go of the very things you’ve been praised for.

The skills you’ve mastered.
The roles you can play in your sleep.
The habits that made you valuable in the last chapter.
But might be holding you back in the next.

How to Build from Your Future Self (Not Your Past)

In my latest YouTube video, which I uploaded a few minutes ago, I share the moment I realized I was designing my business to match my current constraints. Instead of my future potential.

You’ll learn:

  • Why making your vision smaller “for now” often costs you more later.
  • The 80% elimination rule and why it’s harder (and more freeing) than you think.
  • A simple lens for making decisions that your future self will thank you for.

🎥 Watch here → Big Goals Are Easier Than Small Ones. Here's Why.

This Week, Try This:

  1. Write down one thing you’ve outgrown (a role, a habit, or a commitment).
  2. Ask yourself: If I were already the next version of me, would I still be doing this?
  3. If the answer is no, begin the process of letting it go.

You don’t need to do more, you need to align more.

Your future self isn’t waiting for a perfect plan.

They’re waiting for you to start making decisions as them - today.

See you next week,

Megan

ISSUE 56 10 SEPTEMBER 2025 | READ ONLINE Hi Reader, We’ve all been told: failure is good for you. Fail fast. Fail forward. Failure is feedback. And yet, if we’re honest, it rarely feels that way. Most of us still associate failure with losing. Miss the mark? Lost. Get turned down? Lost. Didn’t land the job? Lost. That’s the paradox: we know failure is part of growth, but it still feels like the scoreboard reads zero. Reframing the Paradox Failing is not losing. They are entirely different...

ISSUE 55 3 SEPTEMBER 2025 | READ ONLINE Hello Reader, We’ve just wrapped up Season 1 of the Headline Podcast. Fourteen guests. Fourteen conversations that left me scribbling notes long after the recording stopped. Each one felt like a private masterclass in leadership, culture, and human connection. Season 4 NBC GIF by The Good Place But here’s what surprised me most: the lessons weren’t just about what our guests said. They were about what the process taught me. About how asking better...

Hi Reader, I’m here in Seattle, holding the very first copy of my book: Clarity in Chaos: Lead with Purpose in Disruptive Times. On September 1st, it will be released into the world. This book is the culmination of years of work. It’s full of lessons, stories, and truths I’ve learned about what it takes to lead with purpose when the ground beneath us keeps shifting. It’s for you if you want to: Find clarity when everything feels noisy. Build the courage to act, even when it's hard. Stay...
