Issue 42: One Week Late. Right On Time.

ISSUE 42

21 MAY 2025 | READ ONLINE

Hi Reader,

I didn’t send this newsletter last week.

Not because I didn’t want to. It was on the list. Half-written in my head. But I was traveling. I was tired. And honestly, I just … didn’t.

For a moment, I told myself I’d blown it.

That if I can’t keep a consistent rhythm, I shouldn't call myself a leader.

But that voice? It’s not true. It’s a relic of perfectionism. Trying to convince me that if something isn’t on time, it simply not worthwhile.

Here’s what I’ve come to believe:

Growth doesn’t follow a schedule.

It doesn’t show up with neat timing or clean lines.

It sneaks in late.

Wrapped in resistance.

Disguised as unease.

That edge you’re feeling?

That moment where nothing feels quite right?

It might not be a signal to try harder.

It might be an invitation to listen differently.

I’ve seen this again and again.

From global executives leading transformation to purpose-driven professionals reshaping what success means to them.

There’s always a moment.

Quiet. Subtle. Disorienting.

Where the old way of working - of leading, of living - starts to feel just slightly off.

Not catastrophic. Not broken.

Just misaligned in a way you can’t quite explain yet.

That moment is easy to brush aside. To label as fatigue. Or confusion.

But more often than not, it’s the early signal of evolution.

The beginning of a shift.

The stretch before the stride.

So here’s what I’m asking you to do this week.

Nothing dramatic.

Just pause long enough to ask yourself:

  • Where am I feeling the most resistance right now?
  • What am I still forcing that might not fit anymore?
  • What if this tension isn’t a problem, but a pointer?

There’s wisdom in the friction. And often, the thing we think is pulling us off track is the exact thing pulling us into alignment.

If You Missed These Posts

Here are some of my LinkedIn posts from last week.

🚦 You Don't Need Permission: A reflection on why you need to surround yourself with people who say "yes, you can" and take action to go after your dreams. Here's the link to the post.

🦜Conversations Rather than Slide Decks: At last week's 5th Annual EHS Summit in Phoenix, AZ, I ditched the slides and had a wonderful chat during a breakout session I was hosting. Read more about how it went.

Before You Go

I want you to remember that discomfort isn’t something to escape. It’s something to explore. It often arrives before the insight. Before the language. Before the next version of you is ready to emerge.

So if you’ve been feeling a little off lately (and if you didn't do everything on your to-do list), you might not be falling behind.

You might be stretching into something bigger.

See you soon,

Megan

ISSUE 48 9 JULY 2025 | READ ONLINE Hey Reader, There was a time when my LinkedIn profile read like a trophy case. You'll know what I mean. The titles, the awards, the milestones. Each one was carefully earned, neatly stacked, and gleaming with pride. It looked like the dream. It was the dream. But recently, something has shifted with me. Quietly. Subtly. Like a favorite pair of jeans that don't quite fit like they used to (hmm. I don't think that shift is as subtle as I'd like it to be). The...

ISSUE 47 26 JUNE 2025 | READ ONLINE Hey Reader, Let’s be honest. There’s nothing wrong with a good checklist.(You know I love a tidy box-tick.) But this week I found myself wondering: When did we start confusing good leadership with good admin? It’s easy to run a tight ship. It’s harder (but way more powerful) to build something people believe in. And that’s not just a vibe. It’s backed by research. The difference between getting things done … and getting people engaged I came across this new...

ISSUE 46 18 JUNE 2025 | READ ONLINE Hey Reader, If we were sitting across from each other right now - maybe in a quiet café, notebooks open, talking about your next chapter - I’d probably say this: “You don’t need a new plan. You need a new relationship with your power.” I know. That sounds vague. Maybe even a little woo. But hear me out. So many of us were taught that success comes from doing more. More precision. More prep. More pushing. Especially if you're the kind of person who's known...
